You can use your business mailbox with third-party email software (for example, Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or a mobile mail app). To do this, add your email account using either IMAP or POP3 for incoming mail, plus SMTP for outgoing mail.
When setting up your mailbox in an email app, you’ll usually choose between IMAP and POP3. IMAP keeps your email synced across devices—if you read, delete, or move a message in one place, it updates everywhere because it stays connected to the server. POP3 downloads messages to your device (often only from the Inbox) and doesn’t reliably sync changes back to the server, so it’s better for situations where you want mail stored locally on one device.
IMAP keeps your mailbox synced two ways. Changes you make in your email app (read, delete, move folders) sync back to the server, and you’ll see the same mailbox content across devices.

POP3 is a one-way connection that downloads mail from the server to your device/app. In many apps, POP3 only syncs the Inbox and may not mirror folders or changes across devices.
