It isn’t possible to place a website “on hold” in a way that pauses the subscription time. The subscription period continues to run and cannot be stopped, paused, or "freeze".
If you don’t want visitors/customers to access the site during that time, you can close the website (take it offline). This will prevent access, but it won’t pause or extend the subscription term.
